Quick & Tasty Sugar Free Gajar Ka Halwa

Well, I would like to admit to my readers that I have a sweet tooth. I guess, generally all Indians love eating sweet dishes. Hundreds & probably thousands of sweet dishes of different types are available in various regions of India. I like gorging on desserts and other sweet delicacies right from Gulab Jamuns, to Barfis, Cakes to Ice Cream. Anything that’s sweet!

However, too much sugar is not good for health. At the same time, I can’t stop having sweet dishes as well:) So I just prefer using Sugar Free Natura while preparing desserts at home. Sugar Free Natura is my most preferred substitute for sugar. You just feel that you are eating normal sugar.

One of my all time favourite desserts is Gajar ka Halwa (Carrot Halwa). It’s not only easy and quick to prepare, but it tastes awesome as well ! There are quite a few popular places in Delhi where you can gorge on awesome Gajar Ka Halwa. Some of the famous ones are Kaleva Sweets, Kadimi Sweets etc where people flock to have it.

Below is my version of Quick & Tasty Sugar Free Gajar Ka Halwa which I prepare at home. I am sure you will like it. So read, prepare and enjoy!

  • 4 large carrots (Try buying long carrots instead of short/small ones. It will be convenient while grating them)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon Ghee
  • 1 small cup ‘Sugar Free Natura’
  • 2 tablespoon Kishmish
  • Sliced almonds & Pistachios
  1. Wash the carrots well. Peel them using a scraper. Grate the carrots finely. You can grate them manually or use food processor for quick result.
  2. In a pan, heat 1 tablespoon of Ghee.
  3. When the Ghee melts, put the grated carrots. Saute till the carrots are they are tender. You can understand that carrots are done when the colour changes.
  4. Once the carrots are done, put 1 cup of milk.
  5. When the milk is half absorbed by the sautéed carrots, Add one small cup of Sugar Free Natura. Mix properly and ensure all the milk is absorbed by the carrots.
  6. Add the kishmish to the mixture. Mix well.
  7. It’s done. While serving, garnish with sliced almonds and pistachios. Serve hot or cold as you prefer.
Note: Halwa prepared with above ingredients should be enough for 2-3 people. You can calculate the ingredients accordingly, if you are preparing it for more people.

This is quick and simple recipe of my favourite Gajar Ka Halwa. It hardly takes total of thirty minutes to prepare it-right from slicing the It’s also possible to prepare the Halwa in microwave or even pressure cooker which you can try.
